![]() Incredible
as it may seem, things are shaping up in downtown West Palm Beach.
Everywhere you look there is some sort of construction going on. Dozens of new offices, condos, retail stores, and restaurants are springing forth and regenerating the stagnated transformation of positive growth that has laid dormant for the past four years. This renewed interest by so many investors is indicative of how hot this area is. I would like to thank all the voters out there for electing our current Mayor Lois Frankel. It was those voters who finally got disgusted by the lackluster performance of the previous administration and whose votes were the catalyst for much of this change. It was obvious to the voters that downtown was heading for an implosion, and that another four years of undoing all the momentum that former Mayor Nancy Graham started would be too much. Speaking of Nancy Graham we are thrilled that she is back on the rebuilding board for the City as head of the DDA. Appointed by Mayor Frankel, Mrs. Graham replaces Bill Fountain, a man whose enormous salary and seemingly lack of productivity upset many downtown proprietors. It is now clear that the changing of the guard has been a positive one. It’s a miracle to see Lois, Nancy and the Commissioners working in unison like a well oiled machine. Mayor Frankel has therefore been able to keep her pledge to “Get Things Moving”. Speaking of getting things moving I am proud to say that for more than five years Clematis Magazine has been the voice and visual record keeper of downtown West Palm Beach. The combination of photos and informative, humorous commentary is a useful promotional tool that serves to illustrate the vibrancy of downtown. Clematis Magazine is downtown’s first and only magazine whose primary purpose is to generate an interest in downtown businesses. It is my sincere hope that eventually every business will see the benefits and marketing power this magazine could be to the area. I will admit that the last couple of years has been a roller coaster. There have been many twist and turns and ups and downs, but I finally see a light at the end of this publishing tunnel. Maybe that’s just the sun rising over the soon to be gone Library. Whatever the case may be, there is once again a sense of excitement in the downtown air and CLEMATIS Magazine is here to exhale it. Enjoy this issue, I worked my ass off on it.
