Located at 216 Clematis Street in West Palm Beach, the new
Salon U creates individual styles and trends for women of all
ages and lifestyles.
Today’s woman leads an active life, filled with career,
family and fitness activities and her hair needs to be as much
on the move as she is. That’s why Salon U Artistic Director
David K, Color Director Amy Silver and the Salon U Creative
Team created “The Many Faces of U” – a series
of makeovers to illustrate that point.
There’s nothing like a great haircut and beautiful, dimensional
color to make a woman feel pretty, sexy, and well, just herself.
The professionals at Salon U possess extraordinary experience,
know-how and talent. We very deliberately create a style that
makes each client look his or her best; one that fits the client's
lifestyle, appearance, and, of course, personal tastes. The
result is not only a terrific-looking, modern style, but one
that "fits" our client. So ultimately, our clients
feel not only attractive and confident, but also comfortable
with their appearance.

H20
Raymond
Haldeman who made the “Top 100 Entrepreneur’s
List” twice
as a society caterer and restaurateur has unveiled a
new nightclub concept designed to address post 911 market
conditions and the resulting change in the habits of
America’s partiers.
The “clar”, a name coined by the entrepreneur
to best describe the concept is a hybrid, _ club and _
bar…hence, clar! The clar combines the lush amenities,
atmosphere and excitement of a club with the friendliness,
comfort and affordability of a bar. With an astute eye
for spotting trends Haldeman observed that many fine City
Place restaurants were starved for business, but that the
Cheesecake Factory also in City Place always had a line.
He therefore applied the same philosophy to this nightclub
concept. With the help of Designer by Leslie John Koeser & Associates
of Philadelphia, Haldeman took an abandoned restaurant
space and parking lot adjoining CityPlace, and transformed
it into his new concept. BIG on atmosphere, patrons can
enjoy the Florida weather at the lushly planted tropical
outdoor bar or an intimate poolside chat on a designer
sofa in the outdoor cabana area. Fluid displays of water,
fountains, and a 36’ long fiber-optically lit reflecting
pool inspired the first clar’s name, “H2O”.
Inside the main room is a multi-level dance bar and a comfy
video lounge.
Haldeman says, “A clar offers variety, atmosphere,
and value. “People are more “careful” than “carefree” about
their spending habits these days, they want to have a good
time, but they don’t want to break the bank.” Haldeman
thinks he’s got the right combination. The drinks
are reasonably priced, the dress code, casual but neat,
the staff, friendly and professional, and the atmosphere,
over the top!

An inside look at
DOWNTOWN’S PERSONALITIES
DeJan
Pesut
Every City has Nightclubs, but what separates the good ones from the bad are
its host / promoters. They are the ones who create first impressions, they
are the ones who make regulars feel special by remembering their names and
their favorite table.
One such individual is DeJan Pesut who for the last decade has been turning
average clubs into hot spots from Palm Beach to South Beach
Standing at 6ft. ( 6.5 when he’s wearing one of his top-hats ) De Jan
is no new-comer to the world of event promoting. Born in Croatia on the Adriatic
shore he has been working on tours and theatres since an early age. Working
as a promoter in Monte Negro and Croatia for Club Med. DeJan realized that
he was destined for a life of entertaining. With a hunger to expand his horizons
De Jan moved to the Chicago in 1989 where his first job was promoting for the
legendary JILLY’S Bistro. Thirsting for sunshine and warm weather DeJan
then ventured to the Sunshine State where he quickly got things going helping
start PERGATORY on Sundays at Club Boca. Hearing West Palm was the next hot
area he then commuted north to help with the opening of West Palm nightclub
Enigma (now The Beach House) where he was head promoter.
Building a name for himself, DeJan then teamed up with Jean Marc, whom he met
throwing VIP parties at FRANCIOSE (formerly Au bar). Together they created
energy and threw lavish fashion shows for the well heeled denizens of Palm
Beach. The two still work together on Wednesday’s Hotel Biba (the best
party on a weekday, maybe even weekend). On Sundays they help DJ Snezana promote
her parties at Pearl Champagne Lounge, and Nikki Beach in South Beach. In Ft.Lauderdale
DeJan opened with partner Andre’ the still happening Bulldog Lounge while
promoting for Emerald City.
Another interesting foray DeJan found himself involved in, was working for
the late great Hall-of-Famer Jo Di Maggio as a private attaché’.
DeJan was so close to the ballplayer that he was near Joe’s side when
he passed away.
Currentley DeJan has his hands full promoting both Cream & Liquid. DeJan
would like everyone to know, “ Please come over to my party and listen
to the world class DJ’s spinning tribal flavor and not the other silly
music that other clubs nearby keep playing”.
One thing is for sure DeJan will keep the entire coast partying with his positive
energy! |

I
n a sentence Release can best be described as a
hybrid between a NYC, Las Vegas, and
South Beach style nightclub. Making this come to
fruition are two sets of brothers JD & Chris
Lewis and Keston & Devon. This dynamic team of
siblings has “released” their own individual
touch to Release. With
approximately 8,000 sq. feet at their disposal the “brothers” separated
the club into three sections. Upon entering in through
a beautiful unassuming glass door and heading up
the stairs guests arrive at a foyer with two doorways.
Door #1 takes you into to the Houseroom. Partner
Kestin says “the deep reds & purples in
this 3,100sq.ft.room create a seductive atmosphere
aimed at making guests feel very relaxed”.
This room’s features include open cherry wood
floors, black granite bar tops, and beautifully upholstered
VIP couches that run along both sides of the cavernous
room. In addition there is a large stage for scheduled
live artist and fashion shows. The DJ booth is strategically
cantilevered above the bar so the resident DJ has
an unobstructed view of the room and can “release” his
energy to the guests, and house room promoter Brian
Silber will always play the latest in house, break
beats, and techno.
Continuing the journey through another doorway guests
enter into a 3,500 sq. ft. room that has a darker
sexier vibe. One of the main features here are the
private “nooks” that make for the perfect
place to hang with your close friends. Partner JD
Lewis says, “This room creates a vibe perfect
for the latest in hip/hop sounds, as our state of
the art sound system resonates through the body”.
For those individuals who want some exclusivity you
can join other like minded high rollers and get a
table in the plush hip-hopper VIP area. Hosting this
VIP area is nightlife guru Raj Pattel. The last room
known as The Martini Room is located in between the
two-large rooms. With a list of specialty martinis
including a few of the “guys” own concoctions,
this room will be the place to whisk off that special
friend for a more intimate chat and cocktail while
catching your breath for the next round of dancing.
Lastly an honorable mention goes to General Manager
Spencer William who oversees the day to day operations
of this venture. In closing partner Keston says, “After
bouncing all the ideas around for two years with
each other, then finding the location, Release is
now a reality”.
It looks like a new standard in Downtown clubbing
has been…..RELEASED. |
